Environmental Thoughts From a Walk on the Lakefront
Humans have taken all the good that Nature has and then left it to die slowly, but Nature will come back
Today, I went on a lovely and long walk by Lake Michigan.
Hearing the waters crash onto the shore was satisfying. I collected bird feathers that were scattered all along the beach. For about 3 hours, I walked, observed, collected stuff, took pictures and videos, and reflected.
This is the life that I want to live. I love to freely go out and explore with no plan in stone and no destination in mind. My curiosity, the beating of my heart, and my five senses are the things leading me on. I am a little kid with no responsibilities in the world other than what my curiosity is focused upon.
This morning, during these three hours and two miles, my curiosity only cared about the small translucent fish that washed on the shore. My curiosity cared about how Lake Michigan tastes. They say it’s fresh water; sweet water. Sure — but how fresh? How sweet? Today, I found out.
